Plan before adding many names
Family trees become confusing when people are added quickly without checking relationships. Before you begin, decide who will be the starting person and which branch you want to record first.
Check parents, spouses, and children
Most errors come from missing parents, duplicated spouses, or children attached to the wrong branch. Add one relationship at a time and review the chart after each group of changes.
Use relatives as sources
Ask older family members to confirm names, order of siblings, marriages, and dates. The family tree becomes stronger when several people help verify it.
